On Thursday, Mediaite posted an article by Ken Meyer titled “Mueller Reveals Trump’s First Reaction to Special Counsel: ‘This is the End of My Presidency. I’m F*cked’”. That headline, along with the corresponding article is designed to do exactly one thing: make you believe that Donald Trump was fearful of what would be uncovered during the special counsel’s investigation. Unfortunately for them, they also posted this screenshot of the Mueller report within the article.
All you have to do is read to the end of that excerpt to see that Trump’s concern was with how the investigation itself, not so much the conclusion of it, would affect the success of his administration. Looking back on the last two-plus years, it turns out he was right to feel that way.
Media bias is a very real and, sometimes, intentional thing. Picking on Mediaite for their bias may seem egregious, given that there’s no pretense or assumption of objectivity in their organization, However, this particular instance serves as an example of why you must always read past the headline. sometimes the truth is there, even if he author didn’t mean for it to be.
